Can you get college money for free? Actually yes, if you ask for it!
More college students are asking for it on sites like GoFundMe. You make a case for your education and wait for contributions.
The money usually is donated in small amounts, but it can add up to a few thousand dollars. Yes, you probably won’t be able to fund your entire education, but it can make a difference.
Add that money to any scholarships you might have, money from part-time jobs, and any work-study program money. The result: you won’t have as big a student debt to pay off later if you do have to take out loans.
So step up and make your case how you will benefit society with your degree. After all, nobody will donate money if your goal is just to be rich someday. At least nobody I know.
How Work- Study Programs Can Help
Since I mentioned work-study programs I want to add my experience with them. Our kids earned more money in those programs than they could have in most internships (if you can even get an internship they often make you work for free).
Plus it was valuable experience that counted like an internship when they were looking for a job after college.
The work-study programs at most universities make all the arrangements for your semesters “at work” so you don’t have to apply or search for a job.
Work-study programs usually add an extra year to your bachelor’s degree, but the experience is so important in getting a job later. These programs used to be for students who needed financial help, but now just about anybody can qualify. It is totally worth it!
