Meatless Monday?
It’s a way to start the work week off with a meatless dinner that is good for your body, the planet, and your budget.
It’s healthier and cheaper to have one meal a week without meat. But can you enjoy it? Yes, if you have good recipes!
It doesn’t matter which day of the week you do this, in my opinion. You might like to have veggie pizza on Friday nights for example.
Meatless Monday started in 2003 and is approved by the USDA and the John Hopkins Medical Center Bloomberg School of Health to encourage healthy eating.
Let’s face it, meat is expensive. Have you seen the price of ground beef lately? We paid almost $6 a pound for 93.7% fat free at Walmart. We’re now switching to 90% fat-free ground beef at $3.88 at Sam’s Club. We are also going to eat more chicken and pork. At Sam’s we bought boneless pork chops for $3.83 per pound. I’ll have a post about this later!
You won’t feel deprived with the gorgeous recipes I found at Pinterest on a Meatless Monday board there. All you have to do is find a recipe that looks good.
