Savings Tip #4: Get the Lowest Price on Amazon!

Amazon changes the prices on items they sell all the time. Here’s how to buy items on Amazon at the lowest price.

Their algorithm is unpredictable. How can you buy at the best price? Use an Amazon price tracker! I like the free price tracker website Camel Camel Camel because it’s easy to use. It will email you with a price drop for an Amazon item that you tell it to track. You can sit back and let them monitor the price for you and just forget about it until you get the email. For example, let’s say the price of a particular item on Amazon  stays at $100 most of the year. Yet on one day of the year, the price drops to $70. I get an email from Camel Camel Camel on that day with the price drop to my target price (or lower). Why? I don’t know. But I’m happy to get the lower price. Of course, this mainly works if you have time to wait for the best price. Right now I have set alerts there for several magnetic tile building sets. I want to give a set as a gift next Christmas, so I have plenty of time to wait for a bargain. If you don’t get the price drop you want in time for when you need the item, you have the option to pay the current price at Amazon or buy it elsewhere. You are not obligated to buy any item at any time. So there is no real risk to you.

Camel Camel Camel is owned by Amazon, and I’m not really sure why they have it. Perhaps they find people buy more if they are watching the price of an item? Maybe too many people get tired of waiting and just buy the item anyway at the higher price. By the way, sometimes when I look at Camel Camel Camel it shows that the item is out of stock at Amazon even though I just saw that it was in stock. Don’t let that bother you. The service still works in notifying you of your price drop.
