Last year the Archbishop of Canterbury said to have a messy Christmas, to accept that things will not go perfectly. He said that things will be messed up, and that’s normal. If you strive for perfection you will be disappointed and have too much stress. His sentiments still work for this year!
The turkey won’t be perfect. The kids will get noisy. Aunt Marge will forget to bring the cake. Just think about all the craziness in the movie National Lampoon‘s Christmas Vacation! Your family has quite a ways to go to equal that.
Try to go with the flow and put up with all those less than perfect moments as part of the holiday. Be generous with hugs and kisses. And have a glass of wine!
So have yourself a messy little Christmas! I’m sending you my wishes for a little joy, a little fun, a little surprise, a little hope, a little sharing, a little peace, a little Good Will Toward Men. And lots of hugs!

Yes, Roberta! It IS more fun that way. We had a very messy Christmas. Looking at my son wearing plaid pj pants, the knit hat I gave him and & navy “wife beater” shirt. Whatever. I’m just glad he was able to be with us for Christmas! He’s a good kid, though he goes his own way. As he says, that’s the way it should be.

I love this. Life is messy….and it is more fun that way. Why should Christmas be any different? Thanks for the reminder.
Hope you had a messy Christmas, Maggie.

anexactinglife, it’s something to remind us all that no one is perfect! And often it’s the unexpected that becomes the most memorable!

That is the perfect wish for us imperfect people (speaking for myself, anyway!)
