We were lucky enough to have a warm winter, but does that mean we’ll have an extra hot summer? I hope not! Spring is the perfect time to find bargains on insulated drapes. Demand is low with winter receding. Insulated curtains and drapes save energy in the summer too by lowering air conditioning bills. Look for deals online and at your local stores this Spring.
I bought some from Sierra Trading Post, STP, online. They just came and I’m very pleased with the quality. (I have no relationship with them except as a customer.) They are a linen-like fabric in the color you see here. Most of their insulated drapes are currently discounted about 50%. I’m including the link below so you can compare prices with other sites and stores. Make sure you buy the right size for your windows; it’s easy to get confused if you don’t pay attention to that. With the foam backing (the part that insulates), these would not be that easy to shorten and still look professional. Do an internet search for coupon codes for STP to get the best deal. They do take back anything you don’t want for any reason, but you have to pay the return postage. So measure carefully and read the product reviews. That said, I’m very happy with my new drapes.
There are more benefits of using insulted drapes. You could get more restful sleep with a darker room. They will block out some of the noise from outside. If you live in an area with strong sun, they can be used to keep your carpet and furniture from fading. But the main benefit is in lowering your energy bills.
The linen look is very trendy right now along with natural fibers, pottery, and neutrals. Linen is also a classic look, so you should be able to keep this look for quite a while. At this price they will pay for themselves in energy savings over a couple of winters/summers. A good deal all around!
