I’m sure most of us are aware of the fact that more couples are choosing to skip marriage and just live together.
I’m not passing judgment, just wondering if marriage is a casualty of the bad economy.
I’ve noticed there are many birth notices in the newspaper for single mothers with no father listed and about the same number with the father’s name (different last name) listed.
In Europe it’s been the practice for years that couples don’t get married until they have at least one child.
With the global recession, I wonder if it’s a matter of economics or something else.
Hopefully children will have two parents at home in as many cases as possible whether or not the parents are officially married.
The wedding industry must be hoping this trend fades away. They are already upset enough by the DIY trend in weddings.
I’m a big fan of the DIY wedding. We did ours that way and have been married for 37 years. In my opinion the amount of money you spend on a wedding has nothing to do with how long the marriage lasts.
I have a board on Pinterest with plenty of ways to have an affordable wedding. Click here to check out all the DIY ideas on my Weddings and Receptions board. You can save a lot of money and have a beautiful wedding that is just as you like.
