As we were driving the beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway a few days ago I couldn’t help but be affected by the beautiful fall colors. They overwhelm the senses. I started seeing the leaf colors as the colors of foods I know and love.
I saw the colors of:
cranberries
brussels sprouts (the king of vegetables in my book)
caramels
green beans
pumpkin
lemons
strawberries
pears
artichokes
bacon
lemongrass
cinnamon apples
persimmons (make your mouth pucker, but good!)
butterscotch
thyme
plums
pomegranates
Wouldn’t those make a wonderful Thanksgiving feast? Strawberries are a bit out of season, but the rest would work. There was one color I couldn’t connect with a food. It was a cross between red and deep peach that just looked luscious. Perhaps that color shows up in some fruit cobblers. Yum.
Now that it’s November I can’t help but think of all of the wonderful fall foods. Pumpkin anything! We saw some turkeys on the Parkway, but they were too skinny for our Thanksgiving feast. hehe Click on any of the labels below for Fall and Thanksgiving recipes. (Adding some fruit along your turkey platter really gives that rich harvest look for very little money.)
And if you still have colorful leaves on the trees where you are, take a moment to walk in Autumn’s glory! It’s very uplifting to be among all the glowing colors. A bowl of colorful leaves is always a classy touch for your indoor decor too.

You’re very welcome. I didn’t take the photo, but it had some of the colors in it I wanted. I need to get back to taking photos, thanks!
