I bet your Halloween guests will like this scary looking punch. Not only is it black, but there is a ghostly floating hand in it!
Of course the hand is just water frozen in a clean latex glove, but it still looks spooky. Make several of them to replace the melted ones. The fingers break off easily when you are taking off the gloves, but it’s ok to have some severed fingers floating too.
The punch is yummy, and super simple to make. Just combine orange Kool-Aid and purple Kool-Aid, but use less water than usual. That’s so when the ice melts and dilutes the punch it doesn’t taste too weak. Be sure to chill the punch well to be very cold so the hand won’t melt too quickly. You add ginger ale at the last minute for bubbles; be sure it is well chilled before adding. To make the punch as black as possible you may have to add some food coloring to the mixture. In case you are wondering, the flavor of this punch is supposed to great.
If you don’t want an icy hand in your punch you can make ice cubes that hold washed plastic spiders, etc. You can add food coloring to the icy hand to have a green hand, blue hand, red hand, etc.I could see regular green Kool-Aid punch or purple or orange with a floating hand that would look good too.
To make the spooky hands, turn the latex glove inside out and wash well with soap and water. Rinse well, turn the clean inside back in, then fill with water. Tie off the opening tightly with a twisty tie or a string. Hang the filled glove in the freezer. You can lay it flat in the freezer if you have closed/sealed the top of the glove well. Maybe a clamp like you use on open chip bags? Or prop the open up against something to prevent leaking. Just before serving run a little water over the glove and carefully peel away the glove. Put the icy hand and any broken fingers into the punch bowl. You might want to make several hands to replace the hand as it melts. Keep it from melting too soon by keeping the Kool-Aid refrigerated until ready to serve.
