Our son grilled these for us this weekend & I have to say it’s the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Heaven!
If you’re thinking that blue cheese has flavor that’s too sharp for burgers, it kind of mellows during the grilling. Some kind of magic happens between the beef and the cheese to make the beef taste better than steak. My husband says steak still tastes better, but I’d pick these burgers first.
They bought them from Whole Foods but they saw how they made them & will make their own from now on. The WF worker just took ground chuck & mixed in some blue cheese, formed it into patties, wrapped them, & charged over $6 a pound for them.
The linked recipe has a lot more ingredients, which you may like, but I see no reason to adjust perfection. It uses 3 pounds of ground beef with 4 ounces of crumbled blue cheese. Just mix & form into patties. I like simple!
That makes 12 burgers–you can make a smaller batch if you like. I’d make as many as you can fit on your grill because people can’t leave them alone. Any leftover can be thrown in the freezer for when the weather is cold & you are craving grilled burgers. That’s if you can resist just eating them the next night!
I ate my burger plain on a good bun to enjoy the pure meaty flavor. I felt like a real carnivore! As I said before, I was in heaven. You can add a thick slice of fresh tomato and/or a few rings of purple onion if you like. My son & his wife topped their burgers with homemade guacamole & my husband went with his usual catsup. I love her quacamole (click “quacamole” label below & find The Best Guacamole in the World), but I had it as an appetizer this time. What a treat! Thanks guys!
Click the title of this post to link to the recipe at AllRecipes. Some people there added cooked bacon to these, but as I say, why mess with perfection?

101, it really is that good. But don’t put it on top of the burgers, mix it in with the ground beef. Then the magic happens as they cook on the grill. It doesn’t even taste that much like blue cheese, just a hint of it. But it makes the beef taste fantastic. I hope you like it.

That looks absolutely amazing. I’m not a big fan of blue cheese, but if you say it’s good, then I’ll have to try on a couple of patties (as a test) next time we make burgers from scratch.

Nancy, I would have thought the same. But tasting is believing! I really like it mixed into the patties as it spreads a rich flavor throughout the burger. Amazing what just a little bit of blue cheese can do.

I was completely skeptical about blue cheese on burgers (seriously? blue cheese? on a burger?) until my first try about 8 years ago. Now I cannot enjoy a burger without it! Takes it to that proverbial “whole new level”

I know! I’m not even much of a burger person, but this is a whole other level!
