Is a bit of coral color just what your home needs? It’s cheerful, warm, and perhaps adds “a touch of whimsy” that so many decorators prize. In these recessionary times, we could all use a bit of cheer in our surroundings.
I happen to like coral, but in small doses. It seems to be a bit of a trendy color, so it could easily look dated in a while. I wouldn’t use it on headboards or drapes as seen in the link. I’d use it in a nice, slouchy pillow as seen on the bed. Just buy some coral fabric & cover a pillow you already have. Very simple sewing. You can always recover the pillow in the next trendy color if you like. If you want to paint with this color you might consider using it on just an accent wall. A completely coral room might be too much.
Rachael at Lovely Crafty Home has a good eye for home decor & often creates a great look for little money. She even made drapes from painters’ drop cloths! Not sure my sewing machine could handle that kind of heavy duty cloth, but more power to her!
Rachael says she can’t find a color that doesn’t go with coral. That might be true. I can’t think of a holiday (other than 4th of July) that you couldn’t use coral in some way. Imagine how you could use it for the holidays & let that guide you in how you might use it for every day decor. I love versatile items!
I do love her bedroom with the frames above the headboard. The white of the frames contrasts nicely with the taupe wall color. Easy to do & very effective! Click on the side photo of her bedroom for a bigger photo of it.
