Here’s a fresh take on an old favorite: top a 7 layer taco dip with chopped lettuce and vegetables. It’s almost like a salad on top of dip. That’s the version pictured here, but you can make this any way you like.
Take a look at the photos with the linked recipe. Some just look more appetizing than others! I like the version with the cardinal bird for game day. I guess they used spices–paprika? You might be able to make something in your team colors if you don’t want to try something as difficult as a mascot!
Some people cooked a pound of hamburger, drained it & added it as a layer. Others added a layer of quacamole. You can substitute chopped Romaine lettuce for the iceberg lettuce for extra nutrition. Make this your recipe by the items you choose and the way you layer them.
From the reviews:
“adding a can of Rotel instead of the tomato, green pepper, onions. Very easy and adds a bit of a kick to it.”
“Layer 1-refried beans Layer 2-Cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning Layer 3-Guacamole Layer 4-Tomatoes, green peppers, green onions, and lettuce Layer 5-Salsa Layer 6-Shredded Cheddar cheese Layer 7-Black beans I really liked this combination”
“substituting fat-free sour cream, fat-free cream cheese, and reduced fat cheddar. Brought it to a party and NO ONE noticed the change . . . The dip was scarfed up, and I got requests for the recipe.”
“I serve with Tostitos Scoops as they grab the dip more”
Trust me, no one will be counting the layers & this dip will disappear no matter how you make it! It could even be a nice cold supper on a hot night. Why not?
