What jobs will be in demand by 2018? What careers will pay off most? Should you study or retrain for one of these jobs? Take a look at the list & see what you think.
It’s no surprise that many of these jobs are in health care. That seems to be the one sure thing for the future. My dh was in the hospital lately for a short stay (nothing major) and we were surprised at how many men were employed there. It used to be a woman-dominated field, but no more. Men of all ages were there as emergency medical technicians, nurses, nurses aides, physician’s assistants, and various technicians. They figured out where the jobs were & I’m guessing a lot of them took retraining to get those jobs.
Many health care jobs take just a year or two and some require just on-the-job training. Make sure that any college you go to for coursework is accredited for that particular career. Don’t take their word for it; do your homework. Otherwise you are wasting your time and money.
Other jobs on this list include computer-related jobs and assisting at various professions. The good thing about being an assistant is that you don’t have to take long training and it’s a great way to find out if you like it enough to get further education to move up.
I know a young man who is going back to school (already has a B.S) to learn to be an anesthesiologist assistant. It’s not an easy job as you have to have a strong stomach for whatever is seen in surgery. The anesthesiologist assistant gets a salary of about $110,000 a year. I don’t know how much the demand for this job will grow, but you can research it. One place I found is www.AnesthesiologistAssistant.com with a forum where you can ask questions.

This article says these jobs will increase by about 10% by 2018, but that some will grow faster than others. Sometimes you just have to adjust to new economic conditions & this is a good place to start your plan.
