These are fun to make any time of year with bananas. Cut firm ripe peeled bananas in half (not lengthwise) to get 2 popsicle sized pieces. Put each piece on a popsicle stick & freeze. Melt 2 cups (12 ounces) of chocolate chips with 2 Tablespoons vegetable shortening (like Crisco) in the microwave until they are just melted enough to stir. Stir until smooth. Dip the frozen bananas into the chocolate & roll in granola, chopped nuts, sprinkles, coconut, or whatever strikes your fancy. Place on waxed paper & put back in the freezer until you are ready for them. Yum!
Kids can help make these in the summer to make treats for themselves and the family or friends. It’s all pretty healthy for such a great summertime snack.
