As June approaches some items will be discounted for wedding gifts, Father’s Day promotions and off-season deals.
Here’s what to look for:
1. Dishes, pots/pans, cooking gadgets, small appliances
2. Tools (the first half of the month)–good gift to new homeowners
3. Men’s suits (the first half of the month)–need an interview suit?
4. Sports gear for out of season sports–gift ideas for Christmas?
5. Gym memberships
Gym memberships are in low demand now that the weather is nicer, so you have plenty of room to bargain on the price of a yearly membership.
If you have grown kids setting up housekeeping on a budget, how about giving them your old dishes, cookware, etc. that are a little battered? Then you can buy new ones for yourself from the June sales. Why give them the new stuff that they will just burn food in? Just sayin.
If you need big appliances, try to hold off on those purchases until at least July when sales on last year’s models kick in to make room for the new models. The same thing happens in July for older model computers that might be just fine for kids going to college.
If you are thinking of getting a new grill, the best sales come right after 4th of July. You’ll still have most of the summer to use it!
Of course if you are looking for a new bathing suit you’ll need to shop for it in June. Not sure that you will find sales on them, but there will be almost no swimsuits available after the 4th of July. The selection gets pretty small by then. My husband always thinks this is very strange as that’s when many people realize they need a new suit. Large beach towels go on sale right after 4th of July also. When not at the beach they make colorful outdoor tablecloths.
