The linked tutorial has quite a few steps, but it’s all done in a clear manner with good photos. I love all the photos of finished lotus flowers (water lilies) that people all over the world have sent in to the site.
You can use bigger pieces of paper than the 6-inch sheet used in the tutorial–it just has to be a perfect square. I think that would be a little easier for a first attempt.
A lotus flower makes a nice package decoration to use instead of a bow. They make lovely favors for all sorts of occasions and can be used in party decor.
