Now here’s an idea that combines the light controlling ability of blinds and the chic look of Roman Shades. All you need are cheap blinds and some fabric. From cheap to chic!
The tutorial is pretty clear, but the comments add good alternatives for putting it all together. One person said to use velcro to attach the fabric to the top of the blind so that it can be removed to wash. Another person decided to make a button hole for the cord to go through.
Be sure to read through all the comments and the whole tutorial before you start. Measure twice, cut once, and all that. It’s all straight line sewing, so even beginners should be able to do this. You might be able to recycle fabric from curtains or a bedspread for this project. You can use a plain white sheet for the side that faces outside if you like.
