Wide stripes on a wall add a lot of style for very little money when you paint them. They are pretty easy using blue painter’s tape as guidelines. If you make the width of the stripes the same as the width of your paint roller, it gets even easier.
You can choose any colors, but using neutrals makes a nice backdrop for art and accessories. I like this look in a bathroom as shown here, but they also look great in an entryway, IMHO. They can also look nice in a bedroom or other smallish room. This could be a nice look for a little girl’s room in a lavendar and cream.
Using a satin finish paint gives an elegant look, and you can create different looks by choosing different finishes of paint. For example, one color could be a satin finish with the other color being a semi-gloss finish. That gives a satin ribbon look that might look nice in an entryway. Try it out on a piece of posterboard first to see if you like that treatment.
For a bathroom it’s best to use only paint that is a satin finish or higher gloss to be more resistant to water. If you have kids you might want to do that in most rooms since the higher the gloss, the more washable the paint is.
Spring and Fall are great times to paint rooms as you can leave the windows open to vent any odor. Summer works too, but it gets hot with the windows open! lol

My pleasure, Maya. I hope it turns out great! I’m thinking of doing this in my powder room. So pretty.

Hi, mdaniels! She used Behr’s Burnished Clay and Behr’s Painter’s White.
Another look is to use the same color over the entire wall and then add stripes in a clear gloss or semi-gloss to give a satin stripe look. That’s very elegant too and looks beautiful in an entry hall. You can try out different looks on some poster board to see what you like. Have fun!

which 2 colors did you use here?

PetDesign, if you are using the same color in the satin stripe as the flat paint you can’t really mess it up. I’ve seen it in entry ways, halls, bathrooms, and bedrooms most often, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work in a living room. Give it a try on one wall to see if you like it. If not, you can just paint over the satin stripes with the flat paint! With cooler weather coming soon (I hope!) it’s a good time to try it.
