Bakeries know how to get just the right colors for all their masterpieces. Now you can too with this cool color wheel from McCormick, the maker of food colorings and colored sugars.
All you do is move the indicator to the color you want & they will show you the recipe for getting that particular color. They’ll tell you how many drops of each color to use. Easy peasy. Now you can have frosting that is dusky rose or raspberry pink or hot pink!
You can use the color wheel for coloring eggs for Easter too. I like the stormy blue and green apple! They make good contrasts to the fuschia and maize eggs. Be sure to rub the dyed eggs with a drop of vegetable oil to make them shine like jewels!
The same color wheel shows you how to tint cakes inside for special effects as well. Now the birthday boy or girl can have their favorite color inside the cake or cupcakes too!
You may soon become known for your works of art in the kitchen! You can match the colors for a wedding or get the exact school colors for a graduation party. You can mix perfect colors for a character cake for a birthday party. Team colors can be spot on for game day cakes and cupcakes too. Have fun!
For very intense, saturated colors in frosting you will probably need to use paste food colors which are available at baking and cooking supply shops. If it’s not available in your area, check online. Saturated colors in a cake can be achieved with gel coloring. Click on the label “cake decorating” below this post to find the Tie-Dye Cake directions to learn the technique.
