A skirt is one of the easiest things to sew & you can make them for much less than they cost ready made. I love a basic skirt pattern that shows lots of variations right on the pattern envelope. Multiply those looks by all sorts of colors, fabrics, colors, solid/patterned & you have a huge number of skirts you can make from the same pattern. And they will all look different. Good deal.
Be sure to look for a pattern that is fairly easy & one that doesn’t use too many yards of fabric (to keep your costs down). I love a pencil skirt & it works well with variations. If you are not sure if a particular pattern is right for your sewing skills, ask the sales person for their opinion. They often know their stuff, especially if they are in a fabric store. Once you get used to a particular pattern you will be able to use it again a lot quicker. Practice makes perfect & all that. You can make yourself a basic black skirt or one in any number of fashion colors. Have fun!
