I got a Kindle for Christmas & want to protect it a bit when taking it places. I’m sewing a simple slide-in case from a quilted fabric placemat. I’ll add a fold over flap that will fasten with a button and loop.
I found a pretty French provincial print on a placemat marked down to $3 from $12 at Williams-Sonoma. (I only buy things on sale there & usually just pretty linens.) I love the colors and it’s already quilted to protect the Kindle. I bought 2 more to make a purse or simple tote bag. I might use a piece of grosgrain ribbon as the strap or handles for the purse/tote or use some coordinating fabric already in my stash. Fun.
These simple sewing projects are great for those who are just learning to sew as it uses just straight stitching & you don’t need a pattern. You can make similar cases for all sorts of electronics by adjusting the size. You could even get all coordinated if you want to.
