We all need clothes that can do double duty as clothes for work and for casual get-togethers.
Why not turn some NSFW (not suitable for work) tops into perfectly acceptable business wear? Here’s an easy project to make a fashionable cleavage cover that can be used in any number of tops. You don’t even have to sew to make these.
You use hair ties to hook over your bra straps and then onto the buttons on the cleavage cover. I used a contrasting color for the buttons and hair ties to show better on the photo. You will probably want to use some that are close to the color of your bra and use the thinner hair ties rather than the thick ones.
People who made these say they work better than ones you can buy. You can make these in different styles and colors out of scraps of fabric. It’s a very affordable way to get more use from your tops and save money on your work wardrobe.
One woman said she made so many of these in various colors that everyone thinks she has a huge wardrobe of camisoles. You could even use all lace for this if you like.
No fabric? Buy a “Fat Quarter” at the fabric store. They are reasonably priced and come in all sorts of colors. Just ask if they have any fat quarters. They will know what it is. Or cut a piece of fabric from old clothes. You might want to at least experiment on that to find the dimensions you want.
Or just wear a tank top underneath or use a pretty pin. Or swirl a pretty scarf over all.

If you don’t sew you can use Stitch Witchery (iron on glue tape) available at a fabric store.

Sure thing! I love how you can get different looks from tops you already own this way!

You’re most welcome. I’m so glad it solved your problem. I hear you about not wanting to shop like you’re 80. It’s no fun to have to take in the waist either. Enjoy your fashions!

Thank you so much for this – I am fairly large in the bust area & find that no matter what, all summer dresses seem to show a bit too much or I have to buy a huge size and take in the waist! This is such a perfect way for me to wear my favorite brands without having to shop like I’m 80. Thanks 🙂

Or… you could buy a different shirt. The commercials for these things make me laugh, so silly. It IS possible to find appropriate clothing without having to resort to these silly things.
