These ornaments are so cute. My dgs made one in pre-school that is still a favorite on the tree. You need a plain shiny ball ormament & some paint. I like a blue ornament so the background of the snowmen looks like the sky, but any color will work. If you use a plastic ornament you won’t have to worry about it breaking at some time in the future& losing the precious handprint. I think it’s so cute that each finger will leave a print of 3 segments (knuckles!) that work perfectly for the 3 snowballs for each snowman.
Paint your child’s hand with white paint & then press it on the ornament to look like 5 little snowmen in around the ornament. The palm of the hand forms the hill of snow they are standing on. You use a toothpick to add the face, buttons, & arms of each snowman. You can use a small paint brush to add a colorful scarf to each snowperson. Add a hat to each with a brush too. It’s not that hard to do & looks so cute. Also you get the handprint preserved for posterity. You can paint the year on the other side of the ornament if you like to record the year of the handprint & you can add the name of the child too.
This makes a great gift for grandparents, so you might need to make several. Aunts and uncles might like these too. Lots of fun! You might even want to make some before putting away your ornaments this year. You could also make a decorative plaque on a piece of wood this way for a fun gift.
