A good list, but I have to disagree with a few.
As far as using your supermarket’s salad bar instead of making your own salad, it’s true it’s usually cheaper & saves you time. However, I don’t trust the cleanliness of the items because they are sitting out in the store for so long with lots of people passing with coughs & sneezes. And I don’t know how careful the store workers were about cleanliness while chopping the veggies. I’ll pass.
My dh changes the oil in our vehicles himself & has for years. He takes the old oil to AutoZone or Advance Auto for free disposal. A lot of similar shops take it too. DH says some of the places sell it for re-refining, so there’s some recyling going on.
DH does all our taxes & we’ve never had a problem, but we don’t have complicated tax returns. He also fixes the cords when they get worn out on my hair dryer & clothing iron. He installed a beautiful wood floor for us and one for our son. While those jobs took some time, the results were spectacular. By now, you are getting an idea of the wonderful handyman I’ve married. He does all the maintenance on our vehicles including some minor repairs. He put in a brick walk for our house (with a little help from our sons) that cost a fraction of what it would have cost if done professionally. I think it was a pretty professional job as it has lasted about 18 years & is still beautiful. Yes, he is exceptional. He is also throrough. He reads all he can about a project before he starts & takes his time to do it right. He’s currently redoing a bathroom in our house with tile on the floor and in the tub area.
Yes, I’m blessed, and our whole family is blessed with his help. He has saved us so much money over the years, much of which went to college bills. He is my “secret to savings.” If times get too bad, I might rent him out! lol
