Brown bag lunches can be pretty tasty and they are usually more healthy than going out for lunch at work. Plus they save money! But sometimes we get to feel a little deprived if we never go out to eat for lunch. I recently heard of a great idea to solve this problem. A group of workers came up with a Friday Lunch Bunch plan. I just had to share this great idea.
Here’s how it works. Bring your lunch to work Monday through Thursday. But on Fridays go out to a nice place for lunch with your fellow workers. By choosing a restaurant that’s a little more special than your typical fast food place, it’s a nice treat. (And you have a better chance of eating something healthy than at a fast food place.) It’s something nice to look forward to all week.
As many people have pointed out before, having the same “treat” every day is no longer a treat. Having it only occasionally makes it more special and enjoyable.
This is kind of like having your cake and eating it too. You get to save money and enjoy a Friday treat. Of course if you are doing some black belt saving to beat back debt, you can make the treat meal once a month or skip it entirely.
What do you think? Is this something that would work for you?
