You can make angel ornaments out of so many things. Sea shells, yarn, spun wool, even a roll of toilet paper covered in lace! They all add a lot to your Christmas decor.
I like these angels for being so easy to make and for being easy to customize. The angels shown here are in tropical dress, but the fabric or paper (wrapping paper or scrapbooking paper) you choose will make these your own special creations. You can make these to reflect your ethnic heritage, the city you live in, or some of your interests.
Embellishments can be anything you can attach. Feel free to add glitter, ribbons, ruffles, silk flower petals, craft jewels, costume jewelry, etc. Stick pins will work to attach much of this. Other embellishments will require school glue, decoupage glue, tacky glue or hot glue. Pieces of luxurious fabric and special ribbon can make these works of art.
The body and head of these angels are styrofoam. Be sure to get smooth styrofoam for the head to make it easier to paint. If you knit or crochet yarn that comes on cones you can easily use those cones as the base. Such a cone would make it easy to put the angel on the top of your tree. You could make a cone with stiff cardboard, but adding the head and wings might make it fall down. You can experiment with that if you like.
Cones can be decorated to be Christmas trees of course & look nice on a mantel. Get creative to turn them into carolers or the three kings. You might even turn them into fairy princesses for your little girl’s room. Have fun!
